What we built

Customers check in before they reach the counter

A QR code opens check-in on the customer's phone; at the desk, a scan prices the cart.

FIG. 2Ski rental counter, scan to ledger
Rarău Rental counter: the customer checks in on a phone, the operator console receives the signed record, a USB barcode scanner adds gear, the pricing engine returns the lowest total, the rental sheet prints and payments are recorded.Check-in on the customer's phone sends a signed client record to the operator console. The USB barcode scanner types each code into the console. After every scan the console sends the cart to the pricing engine, which returns the lowest total to the rental sheet, printed on A4. Payments from the console are recorded in the system.CartCheck-inPhoneConsoleAt the deskScannerUSBPricing engineEvery scanRental sheetA4 printLedgerNever edited

Services

Services behind the rental system

How the ski rental system is built: check-in, console, pricing, ledger

Self check-in on the customer's phone
Personal details, the rental terms and a signature, all on the customer's phone. Returning customers skip it.
Operator console
A desktop app driven by a barcode scanner: client book, rental sheets, scan to add, payments, returns and a money report.
Pricing engine, tested hard
Every scan finds the cheapest mix of packages and day rates. Automated tests check it against every possible combination.
Money that adds up
Payments and refunds are recorded as they happen and never edited afterwards. Discounts and refunds wait for an admin to approve them from a phone.
